2008-10-31 - Inspiring and thoughtprovoking
This book was recommended to me at a conference this summer, it has taken me a few months to get to it, but it was well worth it. I found myself unable to put the book down. What a combination of storytelling and history! I am amazed at the work one man has undertaken and has made me want to help him. I will be starting a Pennies for Peace in my classroom because I want to help fight the war on terror through education, because that is the only way we will truly make a difference.
2008-10-31 - Amazing
Simply amazing. I highly recommend the book. It definately changed the way I see the world.
2008-10-31 - Truly inspirational!
This is the most inspiring book that I have read in a very long time. Greg Mortenson is an exceptional human being, who truly is his brother's and his sister's keeper. Everyone should read this book, because it induces hope, conveys important information, and creates motivation to be less complacent and more active in our own communities and world-wide.
2008-10-30 - must read for everyone!
this book is a must read for everyone! not only because of the many wars and conflicts around the world but the importance of education over war. The children don't know anything eles but war so it is up to all of us to show them that they do have choices and it starts with education and building schools. The story of Greg sacrificing his life, never giving up, building schools and bringing this message to the rest of us deserve attention and recogniation. the kind of book you can't put down!
2008-10-30 - inspiring book
This book is an amazing, inspiring, occasionally funny, educational, true story. Thank goodness for people like Greg Mortenson. If only our politicians would get to know the cultures, people and communities of our so-called enemies.
