2008-10-31 - Not quite there
I loved this series from the beginning. I looked forward to every book coming out and enjoyed every book.. until this one.
It just didn't hold my attention. The first part of the book was pretty good. Part two was decent enough, I was annoyed by it at first, but it was interesting. Part three however.. It just felt too much like someone summarizing at the end of their essay. Like she got to the end and was like "okay, this is it, let's wrap it all up". It felt like it went to quickly with not enough time spent on the details. It seemed very different from her other work. And even with how quickly she went through everything, the ending didn't feel like THE END. In Harry Potter, when the series was over, you were sad that there would be no more, however, you were content. I am not content with this ending.
I am hoping she will eventually decide to write another book and wrap things a bit more smoothly.
If you read the series and loved it, don't skip this book, you should read it, just don't expect to be reading something up to par with twilight.

I'm glad with the way it ended. I don't think it could've gone any other way without somebody being dissapointed
2008-10-30 - What's wrong with a happy ending?
My wife heard about these books from several women at work so she went and bought all four of them. She started reading them and couldn't put them down. She said I should read them because I like vampires.
I started reading them and I couldn't put them down. I had to pace myself to keep from reading them too fast. Her writing style isn't perfect, but you can overlook that because the story is so great. There are some problems with Breaking Dawn that you can't overlook.
The biggest one is Edward getting Bella pregnant. I write vampire stories as a hobby and I've never come across anything like that in my research. It seems she came up with the pregnantcy to furthur the plot because she couldn't come up with anything more creative. I also wouldn't let a 12 year old read this because of some of the gore and sexual content in the book, even though they have probably read worse.
If you can accept the pregnantcy, it has some twist and turns that are very surprising. It's definately worth reading, it's just not as good as the others. I like the happy ending because of all the things Edward and Bella had to go through for love. I think we deserve one because we went on that journey with them.
I have a 3 year old daughter, and because of Bella I think I will let her mother handle her teenage years. As far as guys, if you like vampires, you're missing out on a great series.
2008-10-30 - I'm Paris Hilton. That's hot. This book is NOT hot.
Hi guyz, this is your favorite book reviewer slash model slash all around fabulous, ME!
I got an advanced copy of this book back, like, 9 issues of Vogue ago, and I just finished having my butler read it to me. I SO did not enjoy this book you guyz.
First of all, the author's name reminds me of Oscar Meyers. And I DEFINITELY D-to-the-O-to-the-N-O-T, NOT, eat processed meat. Like, EW!? MY bologna has a first name and it's called my boyfriend's p - never mind, let's move on.
Secondly of all, everything that happened to Bella in this book is just sooooo BORING! She had sex, she turned into a vampire, she got special powers so she didn't succumb to bloodlust, she can create a magical shield to protect a hundred people from the Volturis, AND her crazy jealous lover Jake got over her and will protect her daughter forever. Seriously you guyz, why would I be interested by ANYTHING that happened in this book? I'm already LIVING the perfect life with NO consequences, why would I want to READ about hers?
Don't buy this book girls, because it will be such a let down when you find out the only person who can be like Bella is yours truly, ME! I'm the only girl on Earth who can lead a life with no consequences, no angst, no character development, no emotional growth, exert no effort, and still have everything end happily.
So take it from me, your one and only Paris, don't buy this book. Just watch me on The Simple Life, it's on DVD for like 20 or 500 dollars. I honestly have no idea how much anything below a thousand dollars cost.
Oh yeah, not like I care or anything, but like WAY more people watched me have sex than there are who read about Bella's. THAT'S hot.
