 2008-11-29 - one of the best books of the year
OMG--this is a total page turner. I have dishes stacked all over my kitchen because I had to finish this book. A futuristic story when every year two teenagers are chosed from each of 12 districts to compete in a survivor type reality game, except this is to the death. This might be called a 'teen' book but adults will love it too. The only thing I didn't like was the cliffhanger endings--but you better believe I'll be reading the next book.
2008-11-29 - One of the best books I read all year.
At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this book. It just didn't seem like my cup of tea. I'm so glad I decided to read it anyway. Easily one of the best books I read all year, maybe even the last couple of years. I couldn't put it down once I started.
I've read that people have called The Hunger Games scary. I don't know if that's the word I would use. I think I would probably call it disturbing. It was hard to believe these young people had to go through what they had to go through. Going into these games knowing the chances of them making it out alive are slim. I felt so many emotions reading this book. Hopefully, sad, disturbed, wishful, etc.
I'd recommend this book to everyone. It's truly a great read.
2008-11-28 - Awesome
This is the first Young Adult book that I've read in a long while and I must say it was awesome. This book hooked me right from the get go. It's set in the ruins of North America after wars and rebellions have destroyed the states and now they are split up into 12 different districts. In order to show control over the districts the "Capitol" requires each district to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to compete in a competition called "The Hunger Games." In these games the contestants are taken to a wilderness arena and are forced to fight to the death while it's all being captured on camera for the Capitol's entertainment.
This book was great. The characters are written very well and the author goes outside the norms with the story and kept me guessing for pretty much the whole book. The society in which they live in is very original and just really fun to read about. This is a very fast passed book with lots of action and not tons of descriptions that bog down the pace. There is just so much imagination in this book that you can't help but get lost in this book. I read this really fast and can't wait for the next one to come out.
2008-11-26 - Awesome book!
It was an AWESOME book! i can't wait for the second book but when will that be? it did slow down sometimes but there was always action picking it up right when it was about to get too slow. over all awesome book and i cant wait to see the movie for it.
2008-11-26 - I'm still reading this book!im not finish.
Okay,well i bought this book on friday and it came on the 17,of november.When i got it,the first page was awsome,really good beginning.The first page makes you laugh.Okay i got this book because i was looking for a book to read for my english class.You see we have reading logs and you have to read a book you choose and write a description of what you read.Well its been today-November 25,2008.All of my descriptions are very long!I always fill up a whole page.:D okay back to why i got this.So i went to amazon and started looking for books that could happen to me and well feels realistic and just makes you want to read it and makes you have a laugh and just helps you develop new words. This is my book!! and i thanks to Suzanne Collins for making this book. -Great Book.I'm still reading it and the characters are awsome.Katniss sounds like my mom,when she was a kid.If there was a spanish version,i would recommend it to my mom so she can really understand it.Well i can, also now that i think of it,just recommend it to her. Its a book that will make you read and you would want to see what happens to katniss and Peeta in the tournament.oh and i forgot about Haymitch.It was so awsome when Katniss threw that knife to Haymitch to show him off.:) Im on page right now,61.I'm writing this in the 25,November.SUZANEE COLLINS,YOU BETTER MAKE THAT SECOND BOOK!,SO I CAN KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXTS.I LOVE THIS BOOK.EVEN MY STATUS IN MYSPACE SAYS IS READING THE BOOK CALLED"THE HUNGER GAMES" BY SUZANNE COLLINS. :) yeah!!!!
