2008-11-26 - "Love Dare" for old and new marriages
"Love Dare" is a practical help for improving marriages old and new. It is extremely insightful as it isolates and explains the attitudes and actions that are required to make a marriage succeed.

My Husband and I are still doing the Love Dare. What a wonderful refreshing breath of Life for our marriage it has been. I purchased the book because we didn't get to go to the movie. I kept seeing the book available in different media resources. When I was ordering another book I ordered this one to read it myself. Little did I know that my husband would take it, read it and carry out with the dares.

I think that this book will go a long way in repairing relationships and can open ones eyes to power of marriage and what each partner means to the other. The daily dares force you out of yourself and into caring and loving your partner.

The Love Dare is the most effective book I have ever read on marriage and how to repair damage done, and restore marital harmony. The reason I believe it works so well is it's simple daily approach, and because it requires honest self examination. These principles ARE Christian and the scripture that backs up the daily actions is made more clear in the context of personal relationship, married or otherwise. It is premised in part on the fact that we are all imperfect people, and basically selfish, and that we can build on our successes and virtues, rather than focus on our shortcomings, complaints, and petty differences. This requires humility, which is at the crux of the value of this book. I think The Love Dare could be applied to international relations and leadership. If world leaders were to apply the principles of "For the Benefit of the Other" embodied in the Treaty of Westphalia, which are Christian principles put forth by Cardinal Nicolas of Cusa to end the 30 Years War, we can use the simple golden rule to accomplish anything in life, through real Love. It is quite true that we have nothing without love. This principle is applied in the Love Dare. Nicolas of Cusa's principle of "For the Benefit of the Other" nation (surrendering our ego and selfishness) was the basis for the modern nation state, which recognized the sovereignty of different people culturally and geographically. This little book is worth a few libraries of other psychological nonsense about personalities and "conflict resolution," which is clearly not working for the benefit of humanity in it's current form. Hopefully this little book will catch on like Wildfire, and make us all Fireproof in any situation...simply by changing our daily habits from negative to positive efforts. If it can improve us as individuals it can then restore the world as well.
